trainingUET Centre participates in the TRAIN Programme, funded by the German Federal Foreign Office (Stability Pact for South Eastern Europe) and run by the German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP).
With the aim of fostering policy dialogue between think tanks and political actors in the Western Balkans, the TRAIN programme (Think Tanks Providing Research and Advice through Interaction and Networking) offers organizations from Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Kosovo, Macedonia, Montenegro and Serbia training and networking opportunities. In a series of workshops, participating researchers work on writing policy papers and advocacy strategies. Afterward the participants present their findings to decision-makers in Brussels as well as at the national level.
The general theme of the TRAIN Programme 2017 is “corruption and informal practices” and UET Centre is drafting a policy paper on Selective Decision Making in Procurement Review System in Albania.

 

PoSIG mainThe Erasmus+ Project: “Curriculum Development joint European Political Science MA (euroPS)” led by University of Salzburg - Department of Political Science and Sociology, aims to develop a joint/multiple MA in Political Science to be accredited at all project partner and the development of a multilateral management of this MA. The project aims at implementing a multilateral Joint/Multiple Degree (JD) for Political Science on the MA level (120 ECTS) with diploma supplement for all participating partners on a European standard. As modernization and Europeanisation project it will support reflecting and enhancing standards at European Union partners and Western Balkan partners and intensify regular academic exchange of good practice and sustainable networking between EU-WB partners but especially between WB. The project will run for two years, October 2015 – September 2017.

 

European University of Tirana is one of the initiator of the project idea and consortium together with the University of Salzburg, University of Ljubljana and University of Pavia and also responsible for the work package 10 on Dissemination. The project partners are: University of Salzburg (PLUS) as LP; University of Pavia (UPAV); University of Ljubljana (ULJU); Ss. Cyril and Methodius” University, Institute for Sociological Political and Juridical Research, Skopje; Faculty of Social Sciences, University of Tirana (UTIR); FAMA College (FAMA); University of Business and Technology (UBT); University of Sarajevo (UNSA); Sarajevo School of Science Technology (SSST).

researchDeveloping the competences of a critical mass of researchers and project managers in Albania to be successful in obtaining EU funding for research projects: Tricks of the trade by Prof. Steve Quarrie”. COORP, with the support of http://www.perform.network/">PERFORM, provided a three-day workshop on research project development and EU funds to 25 researchers and project managers from various universities, think tanks and public institutions in Albania.

roma2Engagement and impact of Roma Focal Points at the local government: Ways to move towards participatory policy making

In the framework of its Social Inclusion and Human Rights Programme, UET Centre organized on the 24th October 2016 the final activity of the project Working together and Joint Forces for Roma youth social inclusion through tailored policies and good practices on minority rights” supported by “Konrad Adenauer Stiftung, Rule of Law Program South East Europe” in cooperation with the Institute of Romani Culture and the European University of Tirana. During the roundtable the best practices of the Roma Focal Points at Municipality of Fieri, Durres and Tirana were presented as well as recommendations on how to move forward.

With information and communication technologies becoming ubiquitous in our contemporary society, tourism in Albania should embrace innovation in order to improve services, products and experience. But just how to enchase e-tourism in Albania and particularly in the cross border regions in the south? This was the main theme of the final conference of the IPA EU-funded project "Network Creation and Promotion of Castles - NetCastle", held on the 14th July 2016 at the premises of European University of Tirana.
