INTERNATIONAL TRADE IN WESTERN BALKAN COUNTRIES

European University of Tirana, UET Centre and The Vienna Institute for International Economics Studies (wiiw) launched a new research project on the “International trade in Western Balkan Countries –an analysis based on gravity model approach”. The project was awarded in the framework of the agreement between the Council of Ministers of the Republic of Albania and the Government of the Republic of Austria on Scientific and Technological Co-operation. The Agency for Research, Technology and Innovation (ARTI), is the Albanian legal institution which will builds bridges between partners in cooperation and the Albanian Government. The project aims to analyze the international trade (import/exports) of Western Balkan countries (Albania, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Croatia, Kosovo, Macedonia (FYROM), Montenegro, Serbia) using the Gravity Model approach. This proposed joint research project is specifically focused on improving the quality of research in Albania in the field of social and economic sciences. In this sense it contributes towards the preparation of the Albanian research sphere to successfully enter the European Research Area and Horizon 2020 opportunities.

NETWORK CREATION AND PROMOTION OF CASTLES – NETCASTLE

The overall project is the emergence and promotion of a common cultural product in the cross-border region to boost tourism industry with the use of new technologies and e-tourism. The project aim is to create a network for visibility, renovation and enhancement of cultural heritage of the historical castle of the targeted areas. Provision to the user with a multi-cultural and educational experience with the use of suitably adapted innovative interactive experiential services. This project offers to the user a tour through time and space by utilizing 3D representations of historical monuments. This project is financed by the European Commission, IPA Cross Border Programme.

IN SUPPORT OF THE PRINTING PRESS – ‘UDHA E SHKRONJAVE’

UET Centre in cooperation with MAPO Foundation and the Department of Communication and Public Relations at the European University of Tirana have initiated a new project focused on media. The aim of the project is to support the quality print media with a particular focus on dedicated and analytical media. The UET Centre will support 11 journalists of the MAPO Foundation (MAPO daily newspaper, MADAME MAPO and MAPO magazine) to publish dedicated and analytical articles in various fields. 
In this framework, the UET Centre, financed by the Department of Communication and Public Relations at the European University of Tirana, will support MAPO Foundation and its three main media formats: MAPO daily newspaper, MADAME MAPO and MAPO magazine to publish analytical and dedicated stories and articles in various fields, which could interest the public.

WORKING TOGETHER AND JOINT FORCES FOR ROMA YOUTH SOCIAL INCLUSION THROUGH TAILORED POLICIES AND GOOD PRACTICES ON MINORITY RIGHTS

UET Centre in collaboration with IRCA is implementing the new project for Roma Youth Social inclusion through tailored policies and good practices on minority rights.
The EU Member States are dedicated to changing the situation of the Roma people. The EU framework promotes policies that aim to ensure that Roma and other discriminated people have equal access to employment, education, health care and housing (including essential services).


This project seeks to mainstream minority rights at the work of policy makers at the local level through the direct engagement of the Roma community as Roma Focal Point. The project will propose and establish Roma Focal Points (RFP) network and develop some practical guides to prevent discrimination against the Roma community as part of the decision making process at the local level. This project is financed by Konrad Adenauer Stiftung Foundation.
